Videos to help with arithmetic

Some children said that they have been finding calculating with larger numbers and fractions quite tricky.  Here are some videos to explain a method.

You could practise on IXL, using the videos to help.  If you have any questions, write them in the comments section below.

Long Multiplication – Please note if you are absolutely secure in using grid method, you can use this for any multiplication.

Practise on IXL

Long Division – Again, you can use chunking if you feel more comfortable doing so.

Year 6 Parents Meeting

Dear Parents/Carers,

Next Thursday we will be holding an important meeting for parents to provide information and support for the upcoming KS2 assessments (SATs).

There will be a chance to:

  • Look through resources to support home learning (IXL, Lexia, BBC Bitesize, Year 6 Blog)
  • Provide a pack of supportive information (practice papers, past papers, Year 5/6 spellings, reading prompts, suggested timetable for homework)
  • Discuss before and after school support
  • Review SATs timetable
  • Discuss on-going learning until 30th June
  • Review important dates in July (including SATs results, transition, leavers’ assembly and trips)

There will be an opportunity to ask questions and raise concerns or issues. We would welcome your feedback and ideas about how we can help you and your child at this important time in their education.

We politely request that all parents attend and if this is not possible, please seek an appointment at your convenience. We will provide a crèche for younger children. The meeting will begin at 3:30pm and we expect it to last for half an hour.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Hayes and Mrs Jatwa
